Back to School and Sports Physicals

Check It Off Your To-Do List!

The start of a new school year means that student athletes must have a current sports physical on file in order to participate. Schedule an appointment today to ensure your young athlete is ready. Sports physicals help ensure that young athletes are in shape and ready to play. The Penn State Health care team evaluates your child's overall health and identifies potential issues or medical conditions that could put them at risk.

Your child needs a comprehensive sports physical every year in order to participate in Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athlete Association (PIAA) sports. If your child intends to participate in football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, golf, track & field, swimming & diving, cheer, dance, field hockey, lacrosse, gymnastics, or other sports this school year, they must have a signed and dated proof of a physical exam. In addition to school-sponsored sports, most club sports, travel leagues, and other recreational sports organizations also require sports physicals.
